It’s been a long time since the last update, but a lot has gone on!
First up is the social media crisis. Basically, Twitter was the main show for social media through a the POCGamer and GBDW accounts; it was how almost all the outreach was happening in and it;s what was driving sales. Post-Elon Musk takeover though? Number have plummeted. We’re talking going from 7 figures in impressions to 5 figures. So if you’re looking for the latest on releases and news, POCGamer is active on BlueSky, Spoutible, and Threads. If anything breaks out as the #1 spot, I’ll set up a dedicated GBDW spot on them.
There’s a new shop! After too long, GBDW is now fully engaged on DriveThruRPG, with The Foundation, Fight City: The Role-Playing Game, and Nova Suno being available now! GBDW is currently waiting for the verification system to do its thing, so releases on DTRPG will drop a few days after the Itch shop for a bit. Once verified, it will be same day releases.

The Foundation released earlier this year, and it was immediately clear that I’d let form win over function. After some serious revision, v1.5 released with over 3x the word count and a much clearer approach. It’s been gathering steam steadily since release, and the planned update for it will be character sheets, Anomaly Sheets, and a Mission Planning Sheet for the GM. There are currently two planned sister games for it, covering the Global Occult Coalition and Serpent’s Hand groups of interest. These games will also use the Breathless System and are in the research and planning stage.
The Foundation is currently available on Itch and DriveThruRPG for $5.99 USD.

Returning to the 24XX system after a long hiatus, the next planned game release is Aero-Rifle 2056. This game is breaking the conventional 4 page style of 24XX games to provide a fuller and more comprehensive game that stays true to the rules-lite nature of the system. What this really means is things are expanded on more and the GM’s job is made a little easier with some prepared information. Set in the immediate future, it puts the players on the frontline of an alien invasion as members of an elite aero-rifle squad. Saving civilians, fighting aliens, and recovering tech is the name of the game here!
Aero-Rifle 2056 will release on Itch first, and DriveThruRPG after it completes its check over period. The projected release date is by 29 August, and the price is TBD.

In the planning stages is a horror release for October, The Forestry File. This is a 24XX horror game set in the contemporary Pacific Northwest, where a long closed section of forest has been opened for tourism after 60 years. Things go sideways fast, the players must face (or run from!) terrors from a long forgotten Cold War experiment. I’m already having a tonne of fun coming up with horror movie style “legally distinct” names for companies, government agencies, and everything! This should be a great go, so watch for updates as I warp 24XX into horror shape for this one!
The Forestry File has a planned release date of 1 October, and the price is TBD.
Speaking of 24XX… There’s going to be a lot more of this system forming the baseline of games coming out of GBDW. Why? Because it’s a lot more than its micro-game format lets on. So much more. After an in-depth look at all of the 2400 games by its creator, Jason Tocci, I realized that it’s a much more flexible and capable system than I previously believed. To the point I’m seriously considering a second edition of Nova Suno. The system is easy to write and create with too, which is a huge plus.
That about sums up how things are going right now! Things are slowly starting to pick up, and lots of new games are coming down the pipe!
