Trying to balance freelance writing, POCGamer, and creating my own games is challenging at the best of times. As a result I’ve had to do a lot of reassessment for my time appreciations for projects. There’s still going to be updates and new games though, so watch out!

One big shift coming is a second edition of Fight City: The Role-Playing Game. I got some really good feedback on some writing and clarity issues in the game as it is, and realized that I needed to do better. Fight City has developed a small but firm fanbase, so I got to designing. Things quickly expanded past the range of just Fight City though, and the result? The VHS Action System.

The VHS Action System takes its cues from the core ideas behind Fight City, and then expands on them. Not enough to bog down game play, not enough to slow down character creation significantly, but enough to give the players more options and offer them and the referee clearer language on how things work. The VHS Action System will also have modes of play for side scrolling run’n’gun type play, and ninja & samurai style type play where melee weapons are king. The sections for Fight City’s next edition are about 70% complete, and the others should be done soon.

I’m also coming to grips with FATE and FATE Condensed in order to make some games using that system. And in step with that, I’m coming up with a comprehensive redo with the Tanitverse, to bring it more into line with some ideas I have to make it easier to work in. Further down the road, I’m looking at updating Wavechasers and its 2d6 based system, then offering it in separate 2d6 and FATE (modified) versions.

Anyways, that’s where things are at, and hopefully things will continue to develop the way they are!
